Good French restaurants are somewhat of a rarity in the United States, so it was with considerable pleasure that Ravenous Rob was able to confirm that the food served here is indeed up to his standards. Everything Ravenous Rob tried here was excellent: watercress soup, braised lamb shank (superb with strong French mustard), and flourless chocolate cake. The unwary diner should be cautious, however, as the portions were enough to test even Ravenous Rob’s considerable stomach volume. A large handwritten board of daily specials supplements the more limited standard menu (note that although this place claims to serve the cuisine of the Languedoc region in the south of France, the items on the menu do not seem to be unique to that region). With service notable not only for its quality but also its uncommon teamwork. It’s a pleasure to see a service staff that understands that it is about the customer, not who does what.
