The San Fernando Valley isn’t exactly good eating territory, but Bua Siam is a pleasant exception to that rule. This small, plain shop tucked away in one the innumerable strip malls that line Sherman Way has the Thai food credentials to go head-to-head with anyplace in L.A. The large menu isn’t composed entirely of winners, but what this place does right, they do exceptionally well. Ravenous Rob’s particular picks are the pineapple curry with duck, the crispy pork with green beans, the spicy duck with water spinach, and the pineapple fried rice, but there’s a lot more good here than that. With basic but classicly friendly Thai service.
